Ville Raasakka

Ville Raasakka (b.1977) has studied composition in Finland (Sibelius Academy, Veli-Matti Puumala 2002-2010), France (private studies, Georges Aperghis, Paris 2008) and Germany (Donaueschinger Musiktage, composition workshop, Georg Friedrich Haas 2010). He has also studied computer-assisted composition and electronics at Centre Acanthes (2000), and has attended master courses with Helmut Lachenmann and Jonathan Harvey. In 2010 he received his Master's degree in composition with the highest possible grade at the Sibelius Academy.

Works by Raasakka have

been commissioned by and performed by Ensemble cras (Germany), Curious Chamber Players (Sweden), Avanti! (Finland), Time of Music -festival (Finland), Suså-festival (Denmark), Ung Nordisk Musik - festival (Sweden), Quatuor duggan (Switzerland), Musica nova Helsinki -festival (Finland), Gageego! (Sweden) and defunensemble (Finland) among others. His quintet Jitter (2007) was selected in 2008 to the Re:new music –project organized by the EU Cultural programme, and has been performed since then already in five countries.
